In task 1- a situation is presented and you are required to write a letter asking for information or explaining a situation. This letter could be formal or informal. Also in the academic setting sometimes a chart/stats are provided and the examinee has to shed light on it using a bit of data interpretation aptitude. In the second task an essay is to be written in response to a point of view, argument or a problem. This is always in a formal tone.

SPEAKING SECTION - The Speaking section usually lasts for 10-12 minutes. The examiner presents you with 3 parts. The part 1 is usually general questions related to familiar topics, day to day life. This lasts for 4-5 minutes. In part 2, the examinee is given a cue card. The cue card gives you a particular topic. You will have a minute to prepare and then you have to speak about the topic for 2 minutes. In the third part the examiner asks you further questions regarding part 2. It usually lasts for 5 minutes.
